HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY

Wednesday Evening

Oh yeah, today is Fourth of July by the way!! Haha it didn't seem like it at all today! I have never been away for the 4th and it always involves cookouts, pool parties, the usual- not snorkeling and tacos!!

Tonight we were ready for "dinner" early because we were hitting up a happy hour at Merriman's! Merriman's is a fancy place that is known for making incredibly creative food with only the most quality fresh, local ingredients. We showed up at 3pm to 1) take advantage of the better prices on food during happy hour and 2) get dinner out of the way early to park ourselves in a spot for fireworks later on!!

Merriman's has incredible ocean views, though we could only sit in the bar area since there was a wedding going on. Still great views though- we were looking out over Kapalua Bay where we had snorkeled this morning!!

I had 2 of the best mai tai's that I have had the entire trip :) (Best pineapple slice too!!)
Zach and I shared a cheese board to start. We love that they always serve honey with their cheese here!
Then we shared burgers and fries...fancy style! :) We had mini prime filet and applewood smoked bacon sliders with blue cheese aioli on house made brioche.
Along with parmesan truffle fries.
The sliders were exceptionally good!

After dinner we headed to Front Street in Lahaina- the only place on the island that fireworks were being set off!! Which of course meant complete pandemonium. We were able only by the grace of God to find a spot opening up in the only FREE parking lot around! Everyone else was paying premium prices or parking a mile away!!!
We explored Front Street some and made a stop at the largest Banyan Tree on the island. All the other trees around it are CONNECTED to the main tree! It's crazy,

As it started getting later we got a bit hungry and shared a pork burrito from Cilantro as we found a spot on the edge of the sidewalk on Front Street.
After claiming our place for over an hour the fireworks finally began! A normal firework show, but beautiful to see it over the ocean. A very special way to spend the 4th :)

We ended it back in our condo with some "Phish Food" and finished the movie Airplane!
