PIE FIRST

Sunday Afternoon

Another local lunch spot. Another Maui restaurant using all local ingredients...
We love how much Maui supports their local farmers!!! Good quality ingredients for everyone :) So lunch was at Leoda's Pie Kitchen. Which you know means we had to have pie. We got this mini apple crumb pie and since it was already ready and the food had to be cooked... We had the pie first!
Zach got this a Lahaina Hot Dog that was unlike any hot dog ever: house made bun, eisenberg gourmet all beef dog, Maui gold pineapple chutney, poha berry mustard. It was thick and juicy and tasted amazing. Had a great fruit salsa on top!
I ordered a Ham'n sandwich: buttered rye bread, duroc ham, jarlsberg cheese, local basil pesto, apricot-tomato jam, garlic aioli and it was SO fantastic.
The bread at Leoda's is baked fresh daily and it was completely what made our meal! Yummm....
After lunch we headed to Honolua Bay for snorkeling! We had to hike through a jungle to get to the bay.
I love bays because they are so calm and really always quite beautiful.

Our snorkeling here was great!! We saw so many neat fish- huge pufferfish, angel fish, parrot fish, rainbow colored fish, schools of tiger fish and silver fish, lots of coral and sea anemone, the list goes on and on. Wish I could have photographed them for you!!

After snorkeling we went to see the Nakalele blowhole, which was rather large! Apparently not that many months ago a man from California died here... You do NOT want to ever get too close to a blowhole!

Next we drove to Olivine Pools. We didn't hike down to them though because they reminded us of exactly the tide pools we hiked to at Dragon's Nostrils and we were ready to get back to our condo and enjoy our view some more :)
