DON'T TIP THE KAYAK

Saturday Afternoon

It has been such an incredible day so far!! Zach and I have gotten to see and do so much. I feel so very fortunate and blessed to be able to take a trip like this... As I type up this post I am enjoying this miniature glass of cab sav (okay, two of them..;) )
So today started with Zach and I driving to the windward side of Oahu. To do so you drive right through the middle of the island where it's all mountainous and it's so rainy! It's hard to believe it's the same island!
Luckily it doesn't look that way where we are :) We headed straight to our kayak rental location to pick up our tandem kayak and we affixed it to our jeep. How legit are we? :)
We headed to Kaneohe Bay and set off in search of Sunken Island sandbar (our first time kayaking I might add!)

Buuuut we never found Sunken Island. Haha! So we headed to Kailua Beach Park where we had a VISIBLE target to kayak to- a Sea Bird Reserve! We set out and headed to this little island where there were adorable birds nesting in all the crevices of the rock. It was so fun to explore this giant rock in the middle of the ocean and we started feeling like pretty accomplished kayakers :) That is, after we tipped the whole thing immediately upon entering the kayak in front of tons of people....

After we dropped off our kayaks we set out in search of a nice beach area to have our packed lunch!

We found this little area that was perfect!
What a view for lunch :)
I packed veggies from the market: tomatoes, broccoli, red peppers, green peppers, and carrots. We got an herb dip to accompany our vegetables.
My peanut butter and banana sandwich on our whole wheat bread :)
And a little cookie from the Honolulu Cookie Company for dessert!

Lunch is so much better at the beach :D
