WINE IS A FRUIT TOO

Saturday Afternoon

What a great afternoon! A beautiful fall day as well! A beautiful day for the apple orchard. Zach and I go once a year to Anderson Orchard in Mooreseville, IN. We love this orchard because it is a pick-your-own and they have sooo many varieties of apple available.
We decided to pick a peck. We once picked a bushel...that was a bad idea. WAY too many apples!

It was supposed to rain today, but it turned into such a gorgeous afternoon, we were so thankful!
I stocked up on Jonathan, Golden Delicious, Fuji and Cortland.
After the orchard we went a little bit farther south to Bloomington to visit Oliver Winery. We had never been there before and the day that we show up just happens to be their 40th anniversary festival! Bands/live music everywhere, Indiana Artisan tents with samples, food trucks, wine tastings, special booths....it was crazy! Best part was that it is normally $5 to taste at Oliver and today was only $5 to get into the festival and that is all you had to pay!
We did a tasting of 8 wines in their old tasting room.

My favorite was their chambourcin rose and I got a glass to carry around the fair!

We got lunch from the food truck Scratch, one of Indy's top food trucks. We weren't super hungry (surprisingly!) so we shared this meal. An open-faced polenta bean burger and fries with green chile sauce and goat cheese. It was all so good and the burger was exceptionally phenomenal! Pleased to get wholesome food with good ingredients at a fair :)

What a serendipitous thing that the fair happened to be today :)
After Oliver we went just down the road a bit to Butler Winery. Much less busy of course and we enjoyed a tasting of 5 wines there.

What a fantastic afternoon :)
