THE FRENCH MARKET

Saturday Morning

We got to Heather and John’s around midnight last night and crashed hard! Funny how riding in a car can wear you out so much when you are doing nothing but sitting! (Or seat dancing maniacally to all your favorite songs if you are me...)
This morning though we popped out of bed at 7:45 excited to begin our weekend in Tennessee! The four of us dressed and headed to downtown Knoxville which is SO. COOL. Apparently it was nothing a little over a decade ago and now with all the renovations and restorations and facelifts it has received it is totally urban and awesome!
We walked around a bit and chose a breakfast spot called The French Market. This is a creperie (!! Yay crepes!!) and the people who own it apparently used to own one in France and all of their ingredients (even their batter) is imported from France.
Zach got a savory buckwheat crepe of turkey, bacon, avocado and swiss cheese while I went with a sweet blueberry and lemon curd buckwheat crepe. Of course we went halvsies on these to get the best of both worlds! (Do you really expect any less of us? ;) )

Okay. I know, everything always tastes great to me right? But I am NOT exaggerating: BEST CREPES EVER?! Really Jordan? Even better than that caramel apple crepe from Petite Chou that you won’t shut up about? Okay...well maybe that ties them... But these were so phenomenal!
We ate outside on the patio on this beautiful warm-and-getting-hotter day enjoying the downtown vibe. After breakfast we headed to the Knoxville farmer’s market which, let me tell you, makes our Muncie farmer’s market look like a shady garage sale. There were so many booths (and food trucks!) with a variety of things from produce to baked goods to pottery to paintings to clothes to anything else you may want! (Except maybe pets.) We wandered around and picked up some produce for our lunch picnic to come.

 My beautiful cousin and I!
On the way back to the car I popped back into The French Market to pick up a surprise dessert treat for our picnic (you’ll see it at lunch!!)
We made one more stop at a Co-Op store (like a small version of Whole Foods) to pick up a few more things for our French-themed picnic that we will be enjoying this afternoon!
I don’t have wi-fi here at the house, so I am going to most likely post all three posts separately but at one time each evening. Thanks for bearing with me!!
