NOT FRENCH ANYTHING

Saturday Evening

Boys vs. Girls this afternoon and I think the GIRLS had more fun personally ;) The guys went off in search of some good brews and we headed to a winery. Blue Slip winery to be exact! Heather and I got to taste 6 wines (not quite 1 oz. pours) for free and had a great time. We would order different wines and share so we got to try an even bigger variety. It was a really cute winery hidden downstairs and we were pretty much the only guests so we got to “talk shop” with the owner quite a bit. We both ended up buying a bottle of blueberry which was surprising to us both! We are not fruit wine people generally but this was great! It was made strictly of blueberries- no grapes- and was so genuine and pure.

Had a cracker as a palate cleanser at the end.
Then we wandered around some novelty stores that had a little bit of everything to look at checking out the best smelling yet unfortunately overpriced candles. We met back up with the boys and we all walked to dinner (did a lot of walking today!) in downtown Knoxville.
Our dinner place was new to John and Heather as well and it was a hit! The Bistro at the Bijou was our choice of a farm-to-table restaurant serving up great fare. I had a tequila sunrise with my meal that was tasty- I love grenadine.
Then ordered the Paella with shrimp with a side of fried brussels sprouts. Of course my meal was partially consumed by everyone at the table because we are a sharing group!! Love going to meals with these guys :) I had bites of Zach’s chicken and cornbread, Heather’s trout and broccoli and John’s beef cheeks and grits. All meals were met with resounding approval!

Zach with the world's largest bottle of tabasco!! Haha

Then we headed back to the house and wound down with a glass of malbec and games- great day!!
